i worked at a psych hospital for 3 years and kept a little journal for part of it, and would write down funny things patients would say to me.

cruel? possibly.

but they made me laugh.

just found this journal when i was looking for something else.

Female: "Not one person in here." (walks away, then comes right back) "I take that back! There are frogs. Heh. I've been waiting in here almost an hour to see that!" (walks away)

Male: "I love my wife... We have been married for 75 years!"
Me: "How old are you, (patient's name)?"
Male: "72 years old."

Female: "Will you pick that up and move it for me?"
Me: "No, that's the water fountain. We need to leave that there."

Male: "Can I have some of those jelly beans?"
Me: (holds it up to see) "They're not jelly beans, they're paperclips."
Male: "Oh. I was afraid of that."

Female: "Come here and give me a kiss!"
Me: "No, thank you."
Female: "Yeah, I wouldn't either."

Female: "Well there's one little pill."
Nurse: "No, 2 little pills- a white one and a pink one."
Female: "The pink one's my favorite."
Nurse: "Oh really?"
Female: "Yeah, momma got them for us for Christmas."

.... well now they just seem sad. :(

September 11, 2005 = makes me want to run away to Alaska and never look back. (of course i would have to be 17 years old again, too. hell- edward stayed 17. it could happen.)

it's september eleventh and it is reminding me of strange things. like weekends of painting purple walls. secret messages painted on the concrete, to be covered by carpet and never read again. crazy people at birthday parties. with dog collars and leashes. sitting in chairs with pizza. phone calls to home. twisted ankles. looking up phone numbers in phone books. stolen rolling stones with britney spears on the cover..... like cold alaskan mornings. economics class. heart shaped rocks. candle parties. roxy hoodies. stolen shoes. military base shutdowns. free newspapers from the history department at school. bleach blonde hair. orthodontist appointments. orange and red and yellow and brown hills of fall with the sun shining on the mountains. blue jeep cherokees. country music. puppy dogs and kitties getting in the way. eating dinner in front of the t.v., scared to death because my stepdad was out of town and not there to save us. oh. lord. september eleventh reminds me of almost everything but that.

i can't believe how many years ago that was. sometimes it feels like ages, like i've become someone else since then, but sometimes it feels so real and now that i wake up and expect to open my eyes to dark and snow and purple walls. i am not in any way saying that it was a better time. or that i would want to go back there. but it was... a time. and it's nice to think about some times. because i hated it hated it hated it. i despised it. and i spent so much time despising it that i didn't take time to enjoy things like snow and quiet nights outside watching the northern lights. that reminds me. of when we were all in the durango. all of us young ones. we had gone to ben's house and i was so excited to be in the very same home as mrs. craig, the devil herself who kicked my ass in advanced composition 2 and was the topic of many conversations. and the trip to kmart. where we saw tony's mom in housewares. and almost hit a car in the parking lot. and they were taking me home. and we decided to keep going to the very tip top of the hill. and you could see the lights of the city off in the distance as we were winding up. and then we got there. to the top. and there was music playing in the still running car. and standing there. staring up at the sky. there was nothing to be seen for miles besides stars and green and pink streaks dancing across the sky. and it was such a awe struck moment for me. until jaime ruined it by screaming and running around and trying to tackle and make out with chad. oh lord. i wonder if anyone else remembers that night. i was not like most teenagers. i didn't have... lots of great experiences. i had two or three fantastic nights when i actually felt like i belonged and was content, the rest i was miserable and cold. and it was purely my fault because i made it that way. oh well i suppose. i haven't thought about that night in years. as i said, makes me think of everything but that.
